Five historic places that every Porto Erasmus Student should visit!

If you are a Porto Erasmus student, studying in or visiting Porto city then please allow me to advice you 5 places that you absolutely should visit!

Porto has a lot of historic places to visit, like for example, Torre dos Clérigos, Palácio do Bolsa, Casa  da Música and many more but there are at least 5 places you should visit! Take a quick look which ones are in this article.

Number one D. Luis Bridge

Place number one every Porto Erasmus student should visit is D. Luis Bridge, this iron bridge was built by the Belgium Engineer Théophile Seyrig a disciple of Engineer Gustave Eiffel that built the Eiffel tower in Paris.

In the summer you can see local kids making dangerous jumps from the bridge to the river. This is a great place to take some really nice pictures and you are two steps away from place number two to visit.

Number Two Ribeira

Place number two for Porto Erasmus student visit is Ribeira, one of the oldest parts in the city with beautiful buildings and great bars to have a drink or two with your Erasmus friends .

It’s part of UNESCO World Heritage site with historic buildings. You will find here a great Atmospheric, colorful, World Heritage riverfront.

Number Three Bolhão

Place number three to visit is Mercado do Bolhão, its an old market located in the city center ( Downtown ).

This is an exuberant market and very noisy with the specially entertaining fishwives shouting flamboyant about their latest catch and fresh fish. This market is famous all over Portugal for its unique atmosphere.

In this two-tier covered building you can find almost everything between fresh fruit to house good.

Some of the Porto Erasmus student i spoke told me they had visited this market and enjoyed the visit you should visit this market too, it’s a fun place to go!

Number 4 Majestic Café

Place number four to visit with your Erasmus friends is the Majestic Café, located in one of the most famous commercial street, listed among Europe’s historic top coffee houses, has a very beautiful decoration and was once the meeting point for politicians and famous artists.

This is a coffee that is visited and recognized from people around the world when you go there take some pictures to remember later your Erasmus student program.

Number 5 Lello Bookstore

Place number five is the Lello Bookstore, once inside you will remember Harry Potter movie!

By the way did you knew that J.K. Rowling lived in Porto for a few years? Lello bookstore its a unique a historic space with a fascinating interior decoration featuring a grand staircase and stained glass.

Trust me, I’m not exaggerating when i say this is one of the most beautiful book shops in the world.
